Everything cryptocurrency purports to solve has been “technically” solved, but it’ll become indispensable because of the elusive idea of post scarcity.

The perceived ownership of this message and the surrounding content (my blog) can be trivially duplicated a million times over at little to no cost by anyone.

I don’t care about that, but I guarantee you that a lot of other people do. Cryptocurrency brings scarcity to a post scarcity (digital) world. This is something that people desperately want.

If the cryptocurrency ecosystem “falls” in on itself, it probably still won’t disappear because it’s almost TBTF. It’s how we westerners do things. ;-) Magic is real, but strangely selective?

My entire country has been successfully lulled into the cryptocurrency brotherhood, but I still can’t help but be left utterly confused with the use of the term “Web3”. In my vocabulary, Web 3.0 refers explicitly to the Semantic Web.

In the future, historians will awe at the absolute might of western style marketing to hijack a term, redefine it in real–time, and ride the initial momentum to a totally different destination.
