Merriam-Webster’s word last year was authentic. If there’s one thing about authenticity; it’s like the bottom of a clear pool of water appearing shallower than its actual depth.

There’s a kind of performative art here that invokes the so called “Wittgenstein’s silence”, where machinations can be seen but not explained. It sort of works and it’s a banal gift that keeps on giving.

There’s a sophisticated joke hiding inside of HTML’s spec. It’s subtle (pay attention) and goes something like this;

An end tag whose tag name is “sarcasm” [or satire]
Take a deep breath, then act as described in the “any other end tag” entry below.
