HTML Sucks Completely (HSC) is a fitting name for what might be one of the first of many static site generators (SSG).

Check out this really nice approach to rendering fully static LaTeX with hugo by caching remote fetches from a quick and simple KaTeX API. Really clever — glad to see that someone tried it. Custom output formats and remote fetching at compile time are two very important features.

If you’re not familiar with deno, try out the api with the command deno run.

yj is handy for converting between YAML, TOML, JSON, and HCL. yes.

imscript is interesting. It’s a collection of standalone image processing utilities: repository.

Two interesting indie/micro blog repositories.

1. GoBlog: Simple blogging system written in Go. Example.
2. tally-ho: A micropub speaking blog. Example.

Claws Mail is a great GUI mail client. It interoperates nicely with any text editor and has a flat file design structure (many use case possibilities). The negatives are that the interface is a bit dated and runs on a single thread.

Mesh networking software? Linux distributions like NixOS or Guix are not particularly suitable hosts in Internet blackout scenarios, as local operations are easily entangled into a remote build system.

Never got around to trying Yggdrasil, but here’s a rare video of someone using it, and on Guix no less (ultra rare). In this video, Guix remotes are mirrored.

I recently discovered corrscope, a program for rendering oscilloscope views of chiptune WAV files. The renders are hypnotic.

In my world, the original static site generator is hxincl. That’s as primitive as it gets.
