Whenever the _will programmers be replaced_ question
[comes up](/tdro/messages/engagement/#tdro-messages-engagement), I skim global
market job stats/details, then reply with a tongue-in-cheek variant of: I
thought, like farmers, we replaced them already
([ap](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_programming),
{{< abbr hmi "human machine interfaces" >}}). You can't replace what isn't really
there?

Before time began, my client projects were delivered/configured forcibly using
{{< render `{{< abbr GUIs "graphical user interfaces" >}}` >}} or template
generator frameworks with derivative input/outputs. Anything else was a poor use
of time or exploratory entertainment.

Thanks to the industry's obsessive programming focus though, even
[sandboxing](/tdro/messages/box/#tdro-messages-box) has mainstream attention and
possibly alternative {{< render `{{< abbr OS "operating system" >}}` >}} design
too. I'm thinking of finally learning Assembly using
{{< render `{{< abbr AI "artificial intelligence" >}}` >}} to try out the
["hand coding"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_coding) everyone speaks of so
much.
